Not By AI
We're proud to display the "Not by AI" logo on our website.
Why? Because we believe that using AI to replace the heart of the creative process goes against the whole point of creating art in the first place.
Art exists because we're drawn to express ourselves. We need to. It also exists because there is a market for it - an audience who wants to watch, see, or listen to art. For many, that need to consume art is as powerful as the artists' need to create is.
Part of enjoying art is that we like being entertained, of course, but we're also enriched by understanding other people. We want to know how they're feeling, what their experience of the world is, or how they see things. We want to be surprised, to be wowed, to be blown away by something we couldn't conceive of ourselves.
As artists and audience, we connect through the stories our art tells. Some of these stories are told in words. Others through shape, sound or colour. But they're all our way of saying "this is how I feel!" or "this is what happened here!" or "listen to the truth". Experiencing these stories allows us to be more empathetic, more open-minded, less closed off to the world and more understanding of people we might otherwise struggle to "get". They connect us - to each other and to our histories.
Replacing these creative ways of telling our stories, that have existed for millenia, with an artificial version that doesn't require you to think, to feel, to craft a sentence, to paint a picture, learn an instrument, hone your craft, or express any of the myriad of emotions we all wrestle with - to cut that connection between people - is an absurdity.
Consider what a world without those human connections looks like - and whether we're really okay with that being where we're headed. If we are, then we're insane. Replacing human creativity with AI-created art is suicide for our collective soul.
And yes - we know people said TV would kill radio. But this is different.
So yeah... we don't use AI. At least not for anything creative. All our lyrics and music are proudly created by us, recorded by us, mixed by us and mastered by us, or occasionally in collaboration with other (real) people.
If you're a creative, artist, or company who feel the same way, consider displaying the Not by AI logo on your website.
Rant over.
Ian
